My first cover from Aitutaki. Aitutaki is an island in the South Pacific. It is a part of the Cook Islands.
The British government who had exercized a protectorate over the Cook Islands group since the 1880s, handed the islands including Aitutaki to New Zealand administration in 1901. Cook Islands stamps were used from 1932 to 1972
On 9 August 1972 Aitutaki became a port of entry into the Cook Islands. Although part of the Cook Islands, Aitutaki has a separate postal service.
