Christmas Mail 2014 13 - Canada

Christmas cover 2 from Canada. Its got on it the Santa souvenir sheet, also issued by Canada post on October 23, 2014. This souvenir sheet features all 3 stamps from the Santa Claus issue. Each stamp illustrates a different theme of Santa. The Permanent™ domestic stamp shows Santa returning the millions of letters children send him each year. The $1.20 U.S. stamp features Santa on his annual journey delivering gifts around the world. And the $2.50 international stamp reflects the international origins of the modern-day Santa.

Christmas Mail 2014 12 - Canada

Christmas cover 1 from Canada. Its got on it the Madonna and Child stamp issued by Canada post on October 23, 2014. This beautiful stamp shows a detail of the Virgin and Child from an oil painting by Flemish Baroque artist Abraham Janssens van Nuyssen. The original painting is held in the collection of the Basilica Cathedral Notre-Dame de Québec in Québec City.

This cover was sent to me by a dear friend. Unfortunately the cover is slightly damaged. If you look closely there's a tear at the bottom. However the stamps on the cover are intact.

The stamps fit perfectly into my thematic interest of comics/cartoons/animation on stamps. There are five stamps in the set and the stamps were released on September 10, 2013 commemorating the 75th anniversary of Superman's appearance in action comics.

Christmas Mail 2013 - 9

This year's Christmas stamps in Canada were issued on October 22, 2013 and the three-stamp issue features Christmas-themed work in cross-stitch, one of the oldest forms of embroidery.

The first stamp on the left of the sheet features an image of a cross-stitched festive holiday horn. Stamp is in denominations of $0.63, the current rate for standard domestic Lettermail.
The second stamp features an image of a cross-stitched prancing reindeer with a holiday wreath. Stamp is in denominations of $1.10, the current rate for standard letters bound for the U.S.

The third stamp features the quintessential image of the holidays – a decorated evergreen tree. These are in denominations of $1.85, the current rate for standard letters bound for the international destinations other than the U.S..

Another great cover from Canada with the Royal wedding souvenir sheet.

Canada Post issued two commemorative stamps on the Royal Couple’s wedding day. One stamp was released at the domestic rate (PERMANENT™), and another at the international rate. Two souvenir sheets were also issued. The one you see here is the overprint.

This lovely cover from Canada has a souvenir sheet on it and is my 20th cover from Canada. Thanks Johanne for the sheet on cover and the many Canadian stamps you sent to fill spaces in my Canadian stamps collection.

The souvenir sheet features 3 great Canadian military regiments: The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment) and The Royal Regiment of Canada.
It comprises 3 domestic-rate PERMANENT stamps, each honouring one regiment and was issued on October 11, 2012.

Thank you Laura for the lovely cover and the card too.   So with this sheet I have now all the Christmas issues of 2012 from Canada on cover in my cover collection. This lovely Christmas card is just so apt for a collector of Christmas stamps like me. Laura, thanks again. The card has a picture of the 15 cent Christmas stamp issue from 1981. One of the stamps from this set  commemorates the bicentenary of the first illuminated Christmas tree in Canada. The complete set of three is part of "My Christmas stamps from Canada" collection. I will do an update on it soon, here on the blog, as there have been quite a few additions.

IT IS THE CHRISTMAS SEASON.....My second Christmas cover this year.

Received this beautiful cover from Canada. Thank you Sonali for the beautiful card and matching envelope and most of all, for the wishes. Merry Christmas to you and the family too!

'Twas the night before Christmas',written by Clement Clark Moore, is a popular poem, often recited by families on Christmas Eve. For me, living in the south of India, I've never been able to relate to cards that portray a scene of small cottages, snow covered paths, snowmen or falling snowflakes. For us, here, Christmas is about midnight mass, loads of home-made goodies, decorated plastic tress, stars hanging in front of houses, a few carolers, what we'd describe as a winter chill (approx 18°C) and a rambunctious gathering of friends and family over the holiday season.

Complete Canada Titanic Centenary Issues on Covers

Just yesterday I received this cover from Canada with the two setenant stamps showing both the bow and stern of the Titanic from the centenary issue and that makes it, the complete set on covers. Thanks a million Maryam.

A great cover again from Johanne from Canada. The pen cancels have become a regular thing now and I get this one from Canada too. So far they would come from Great Britain. Nonetheless a lovely cover and many thanks to Johanne.

The stamps are a complete set of self adhesives from 2001 depicting various hot air balloons.

Though I received only a few covers in the last two weeks, the three that I received made up in quality for the small number. This one came with the Titanic stamp showing a side view of the ship and the cancellations are absolutely clear.

I have a cover already with the SS. Now Ive got this one with the stamp, another one with the two setenant
stamps showing both the bow and stern of the ship and I will have the complete set on covers.

The two stamps on the left were issued in February 2012 commemorating Viola Desmond and John Ware. The other four stamps are from the low value definitives: beneficial insects sets of 2007 and 2010 respectively. I hope to have all the 10 stamps from both the years in my Canada collection.
