This is a blog of my personal stamps and covers collection. I am an avid collector of postage stamps, miniature sheets, FDCs and covers addressed to me from across the world, an accumulator and hoarder of stamps. It is my attempt here to show you all of my collection in the posts that I'll add and update regularly. I hope to add more to the collection in the process, interact with you other collectors out there and share thoughts and information about anything and everything related.

Christmas Mail 2014 14 - Italy
Christmas cover from Italy. This one's got both the stamps issued this year for Christmas. Again there is a traditional stamp issue and a contemporary or modern one. The stamps were issued on the 1st of December 2014.
The €0.95 stamp depicts a typical Italian Christmas.
The €0.80 religious-themed stamp reproduces a 1586 painting by Agostino Carracci titled Madonna with Child and Saints, one of the many treasures of the National Gallery of Parma. The painting shows Mary feeding Jesus in the center with St. Cecilia on the right, a young St. John the Baptist at Mary’s feet, a kneeling St. Margaret and St. Benedict standing on the left. Each saint is pictured with various symbols

Cover - Italy
Here's another cover from Italy with two stamps of the current Pope, Pope Francis and the very popular former, Pope John Paul II. I am so happy to have this cover in my collection.
Italy issued the new postage stamp honoring the beginning of the pontificate of Pope Francis. The stamp is part of a joint issue with the Vatican City.

Cover - Italy
Received this lovely cover from Italy yesterday. Two striking things about the cover - A complete set of stamps and the Pope Francis cancellation.
The stamps were issued on the 5th of April 2013 and commemorate the Gardens of Castel Trauttmansdorff in Merano, the Cinque Terre National Park and the Botanic Garden Museum in Bari. Each of the stamps is denominated 0.7 Euro. The stamps feature a vertical strip on the left composed of flowers and plants representative of the flora of the relevant botanic garden. Beautiful stamps.

Cover Bonanza
Yesterday was another good cover day. Four lovely covers in my mailbox from four different countries, two of which I didn't have any covers of until now. I received one from Nicaragua, another from Latvia, Italy and Belgium. Needless to say, I was super delighted. Im doing this post only of the Italy cover.
A beautiful souvenir sheet on the cover. Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, Italian Post and Bolaffi created a unique collection of stamps to explore and learn about Italy, the past, the most important characters, but also regions and places that made history.
- Detail of the painting "Battle of Bezzecca", Museum of the Risorgimento in Rome
- the painting "breach of Porta Pia" by Charles Ademollo, Civic Museum of Risorgimento in Milan
- engraving of "Battle of the Isonzo", Museum Contemporary History of Milan.
The stamps have imprinted on them "BATTLE OF INDEPENDENCE WAR III BEZZECCA 1866", "POWER OF ROME breach of Porta Pia 1870", "FIRST WORLD WAR Battle of Isonzo 1915-1917", the caption "ITALY" and value "0.60" respectively.
