Christmas Stamps Set - Alderney 2014

Since this is my first ever post on stamps of Alderney, I will first talk a little about the island itself. Alderney is the most northerly of the Channel Islands. It is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Channel Islands are an archipelago of British Crown Dependencies in the English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy. They include two separate bailiwicks: the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

Stamps for use on Alderney are provided by the Guernsey Post Office. Alderney's first Christmas stamps were issued in 2010. From then on every year a set of stamps has been issued.

This year's Christmas stamps of Alderney have all been created by local schoolchildren during a competition held by Guernsey Post in which the youngsters had to get creative and begin thinking about the festive season in early springtime. The designs were used on the stamps that were issued on 6.11.2014.
