This is a blog of my personal stamps and covers collection. I am an avid collector of postage stamps, miniature sheets, FDCs and covers addressed to me from across the world, an accumulator and hoarder of stamps. It is my attempt here to show you all of my collection in the posts that I'll add and update regularly. I hope to add more to the collection in the process, interact with you other collectors out there and share thoughts and information about anything and everything related.

Cover - El Salvador, Country #80
This is my first ever cover from El Salvador. There are stamps on the front and the back of this cover. And Jose was kind enough to send me some old stamps of El Salvador inside the cover too. I owe Jose a big thank you for this one.
Front
A little about El Salvador - A country in Central America located On the Pacific coast of Central America, between Guatemala, Honduras and the Gulf of Fonseca. The colon was the official currency of El Salvador from 1892 to 2001, when it adopted the U.S. Dollar. On the cover, the first stamp on the front has the denomination in US dollars and Colon both. From 2007 onward, the stamps had only the US dollar denomination.

Our City in a Garden - Singapore
Wong Wee Leong sent me this lovely FDC of the latest "Our city in a garden" issue from Singapore. Four stamps and a collectors sheet were issued on 13 July 2013. On the cover are the four stamps.
The four designs on the stamps portray Singapore's vibrant urban landscape nestled within a thriving garden with native plants and wildlife. To commemorate 50 years of greening Singapore, the self-adhesive 1st local stamps from this series come affixed with seeds of the Portulaca grandiflora for everyone to plant. The creeper is a common sight in Singapore in roadside plantings, rooftop gardens, on flowerbeds and as ornamental displays in pots.

Cover - Finland
Kimmo Liljeroos sent me this beautiful cover from Finland. I received it last week or so. Though I have a few covers of Finland already, this one by far stands out among them all and has gone straight into my cover allbum. The cover has got eight odd shaped stamps and a mini-sheet with a hologram on it.
In 2008, Finnish post issued two sheets containing strips of three self adhesive stamps depicting ripples in water and a beautiful view of the archipelago of Gulf of Finland. All six stamps are here on the cover. The stamps are plus sign shaped. Also on the cover are two similar plus sign shaped stamps issued in 2011 depicting the bud and leaf of a birch tree.
The beautiful and intricate mini-sheet was issued in January 2007 to mark the start of the International Polar Year. The sheet was perforated to create two overlapping stamps. One stamp encompasses part of the background image of an aurora arcing over a snowy landscape, while the other features a close-up of a snowflake. A glittering hologram of a snowflake fills the square where the two stamps overlap. The background picture of the aurora was taken by Finnish photographer Pekka Luukkola in Kittila, northern Finland.

Cover - USA
Received this nice cover from USA from Minot, North Dakota, my 25th of the USA. Its got these lovely clear cancellations of the Minot AFB on it.
The Minot Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force installation in Ward County, North Dakota, 13 miles (21 km) north of the city of Minot.
Would have been better if all the stamps were cancelled. However all in all a very nice cover.

FDC - Hong Kong - Chinese and Western Wedding Customs
This beautiful FDC with the set of six stamps introduces the wedding culture of Hong Kong from various perspectives, highlighting the harmonious mix of Chinese and Western elements.
In Hong Kong where the East meets the West, weddings are characterized by a blend of traditional Chinese etiquette and Western customs. In this stamp issue, red and gold, popular colours for Chinese celebrations are used in three of the stamps to emphasize the cheerful bustle of Chinese weddings. White and pink, being the symbol of purity, are the main colours of the other three stamps in which the feeling of romance associated with Western weddings permeates.
