Trucial States - Ajman

The Trucial States were a group of sheikhdoms in the Persian Gulf. They were a British protectorate from 1820 until 1971. Ajman was one of the states. On 18 July 1971, seven gulf sheikhdoms including Ajman, formed part of the state of the United Arab Emirates. The federation became effective on 1 August 1972.

These are my only stamps of Ajman. The first stamps, issued in 1964. A complete set of 18 stamps (SG 1 - 18) in three different sizes depicting Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Naimi and fauna. You can see the first 17 stamps in the picture above.

First nine stamps are of size 34 1/2 x 23 mm. The next six are of size 42 1/2 x 27 mm and finally the last three are of size 53 x 34 mm.
I am putting up a slighltly blown up image of the highest face value stamp from the set, the 18th. Its got the Sheikh and the Lanner falcon shown on it. Beautiful set of stamps.

  1. I’ve been browsing over your blog and I find your collection of stamps to be very interesting. I know that it takes quite a bit of a time collecting the stamps that you want. These days, you will hardly find any people who are still into stamp collecting. This is why it is actually such a pleasure to read about the collection from someone who shares the same passion of stamp collecting as I do. These Trucial States – Ajman collection of yours are actually a nice piece. While I do not have much variety with my stamp collections, I did find a collection similar to yours at an online Ajman catalogue.

    1. To tell you the truth, the blog is evolving as much as my collection is. Some of the old posts need to be redone and I am slowly doing all that. It makes me extremely happy to know that someone finds the blog interesting. Yes it does take time and while I try my level best to find time with my blog, I am sure I will be able to put up most of my collection up here and have many more conversations with you and others who have similar interests. Thanks for sharing the link. Keep visiting and happy collecting.
